In this comprehensive course, you will learn the essentials of better business writing, including:
How to get your points across in clear, concise, and compelling language
Tips and techniques you can apply in any kind of communication - email, memos,   letters, and reports
Strategies for employing style, structure, format, and tone for maximum impact
New rules of writing in the digital age, including email guidelines
The most common business writing mistakes - and how to avoid them
Steps for crafting correspondence that gets results

Each week you will review key concepts and then put them into practice in exercises you complete in-class and at home. Just as importantly, you will find out what to avoid, including common errors in grammar, punctuation, word usage and spelling. You will complete the course with a reference guide for crafting first-rate business correspondence.

Prerequisite: Students must speak and write in English with native fluency and should be able to send and receive email. Students may be asked to provide a writing sample prior to enrollment.

Better Business Writing | Intensive
 
The Intensives are fun, fast-paced immersions in a type of writing. You’ll get a mixture of brief lectures that hit the high-points and writing exercises that let you immediately try your hand at what youve just learned. The Intensives provide an excellent overview of their fields, ideal for both the beginner and someone wanting a quick refresher course. Come in to class with a notepad, pen, and desire to learn. By the end of the day, you’ll be a more knowledgeable and skilled writer.

Intensives are for beginners or anyone who wants to brush up on the fundamentals.

Intensives are offered in NYC on Fridays and weekends throughout the year.

Gotham also offers two and four-week seminars, including: How to Get Published, Hit Send: Publishing Short Nonficiton, How to Blog, Nonfiction Book Proposal, and How to Sell Your Screenplay.

Students may reschedule a One-Day Intensive one time.

If writing is an important part of your job, its time you spend an afternoon learning how to do it better and faster. Through lectures and in-class writing exercises, this workshop covers business writing basics including how to organize, format, and write effective letters and memos; a clear explanation of common grammar and punctuation mistakes and tips for avoiding them; email strategies that save time and increase impact; and much more.

Prerequisite: Students must speak and write in English with native fluency. Students seeking to improve their grammar and basic communications skills are advised to enroll in Write it Right!
