Sitcoms are part of our lives. We really do love Lucy and Raymond, not to mention Archie, Bernie, Jeannie, Malcolm, Mary, and, yes, even Gilligan. The characters in sitcoms tickle and annoy us as much as our own family and they enter our homes almost as frequently. The biggest difference: they leave after thirty minutes.
To break into sitcom writing, you need a great “spec” script – a perfectly executed episode of a still-current show. In our course, you will learn how to structure and format to industry standards, stay true to a show’s characters and spirit, and combine a stand-up’s joke precision with a dramatist’s sense of dialogue, scene, and setting.
If you seek to join the family of sitcom writers, we’ll show you how to write a great spec script.
