Creative Writing

Are you eager to test the waters of creative writing but not sure where to start? Or how to start?

Have you written previously but been away from it? Or never studied before?

Our creative writing course will guide you surely and safely into the writing life. You will expand your powers of observation, imagination, and language. You will collect numerous tips on craft and practices. You will be exposed to various forms of creative writing in the fields of prose fiction and nonfiction. Ideas will be sparked, confidence acquired, and youíll gain a sense of where to move onward with your writing.

Creative writing is one of the most stimulating and fulfilling ways to express yourself, and youíre never too young or too old to explore its wonders. So come on in. The waterís fine.

This course is an excellent precursor to any of Gothamís other Level I courses.

Creative Writing 101 | 6-week Workshop
In this six-week course, you will find:

Creative Writing 101 | Intensive
The Intensives are fun, fast-paced immersions in a type of writing. You’ll get a mixture of brief lectures that hit the high-points and writing exercises that let you immediately try your hand at what youíve just learned. The Intensives provide an excellent overview of their fields, ideal for both the beginner and someone wanting a quick refresher course. Come in to class with a notepad, pen, and desire to learn. By the end of the day, you’ll be a more knowledgeable and skilled writer.

Intensives are for beginners or anyone who wants to brush up on the fundamentals.

Intensives are offered in NYC on Fridays and weekends throughout the year.

Gotham also offers two and four-week seminars, including: How to Get Published, Hit Send: Publishing Short Nonficiton, How to Blog, Nonfiction Book Proposal, and How to Sell Your Screenplay.

Students may reschedule a One-Day Intensive one time.

This course will help unleash your creativity as a writer of prose fiction and nonfiction and ignite a variety of ideas.
