Are you eager to test the waters of creative writing but not sure where to start? Or how to start?

Have you written previously but been away from it? Or never studied before?

Our creative writing course will guide you surely and safely into the writing life. You will expand your powers of observation, imagination, and language. You will collect numerous tips on craft and practices. You will be exposed to various forms of creative writing in the fields of prose fiction and nonfiction. Ideas will be sparked, confidence acquired, and you’ll gain a sense of where to move onward with your writing.

Creative writing is one of the most stimulating and fulfilling ways to express yourself, and you’re never too young or too old to explore its wonders. So come on in. The water’s fine.

This course is an excellent precursor to any of Gotham’s other Level I courses.

In this six-week course, you will find:

Creative Writing 101 | One-Day in NYC
 
The One-Day Workshops are fun, fast-paced immersions in a type of writing. You’ll get a mixture of brief lectures that hit the high-points and writing exercises that let you immediately try your hand at what you’ve just learned. The one-days provide an excellent overview of their fields, ideal for both the beginner and someone wanting a quick refresher course. Come in to class with a notepad, pen, and desire to learn. By the end of the day, you’ll be a more knowledgeable and skilled writer.

One-Days are for beginners or anyone who wants to brush up on the fundamentals.
