With a nod to mash-ups like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Android Karenina, and Wuthering Bites as inspiration, Gotham sponsored the Literary Mash-up Contest.
Writers were asked to craft an original literary mash-up by taking a classic and crossing it with any genre (romance, mystery, science fiction, horror, etc.) The challenge was to give us a new take on a well-known work using only the title and first 75 words of an original mash-up.

Nobody who'd seen Ernie Cantolli as some baby would've guessed he was born to be a cabbie. His attitude, his parents, his crazy-ass siblings, they were all freaking nuts. His father was a preacher or something, and he was damn ugly. He believed in old-school discipline, like belts and stuff. His mother had a mouth on her; she was always good at getting Ernie to stand straight and stop acting retarded.

Weight 122 lbs. Age: Six days. Clone status: Two of thirty seven.
Today I mingled with the other Brigits at one of professor Eger's protein sludge mixers. Brigit clone-one was exempt due to a slight mishap with her legs and Brigit clone-thirty hadn't quite got the hang of eating yet. We helped her with the slurp tube so that she wouldn't miss the guest appearance of Brigit the original.
