Private Session/Class

For a one-on-one class, where you are the only student, we have two options:

Private Session (NYC only)
The Private three-hour Session allows you to meet with a faculty member who will introduce you to four major craft elements in the writing form of your choice. The private session lets you explore the fundamentals through mini-lectures, writing exercises, and discussion, with time built in for Q&A.

Tuition: $225.

(You can also purchase a three-pack, giving you three three-hour private sessions in three different types of writing. A good fit if you want to experiment with different genres, or you’re only in NYC for short period of time. Tuition: $650)

Private Class (NYC and Online)
The Private Class allows you to take any of our 6-week or 10-week writing courses one-on-one with a faculty member.

For a 6-week class, you have the following options:

Creative Writing 101
Nonfiction 101
Business Writing
Unbound: Creative Writing for Teens (13-17 only)
True Story: Creative Nonfiction for Teens (13-17 only)

For 10-week classes, we have private instruction available in all 10-week genres, both Level I and II.

If you've never taken a writing class before, Level I will teach the basics of craft for your chosen form of writing, through weekly lectures, writing exercises, analysis of published/produced work and feedback on your work in progress.

If youve taken a Level I class with us (or something similar elsewhere), Level II will help you deepen your knowledge of craft using your work as a springboard. Weekly discussions and in-depth critique of your project propel you and your work forward whether you're working on a rewrite or forging new material.

6-Week Tuition: $995
10-Week Tuition: $1745

Note: Gotham does not offer private classes in How to Get Published, How to Blog, Hit Send: Publishing Short Nonfiction, or Nonfiction Book Proposal.
