Thriller writer D.P. Lyle on the writing process.
Q: What is your method for overcoming writer’s block?
A: No such thing. If you get stuck on a project it's usually because you haven't thought it through or haven't let it percolate long enough.
Q: What are your favorite or most helpful writing prompts?
A: From Elmore Leonard: Ask yourself before you write each scene--What is the purpose of this scene and from whose point of view should it be told?
Also from Elmore----Leave out the parts people skip.
From Terry Brooks: His 10 rules of writing:
Read, read, read
Outline, outline, outline
Write, write, write
Q: What is the most valuable advice you received as a young writer?
A: From Bryce Courtney: Writing requires Bum Glue. Glue your bum to the chair and write.
