Internships

Are you crazy-eager to be part of a team devoted to helping writers—new and seasoned—realize their dreams of bringing their stories to the page/screen/stage?

Have we got an internship for you!

The kind of things our interns do:

  • Counsel prospective students over the phone
  • Do a bit of data entry, a bit of filing, a bit of other office-y stuff
  • Help us prep for Registration Week
  • Jump feet-first into projects that will introduce new folks to Gotham, in the office and around town
  • Chime in with ideas and be taken seriously
  • Add to “water-cooler" chat about the latest movie/TV show/blog/exhibit/novel
  • Co-host our Write-Ins
  • Contribute to the Intern Blog, Intern Instagram, and Intern Twitter.

You'll need some skills—computer, customer service, interpersonal—but if you learn fast and are up for a challenge, that might work, too.

You'll also need to live in (or be able to commute to) NYC. Interns come in during business hours and the typical time frame is three days a week for three months.

And what do you get for your troubles? Gotham internships are unpaid, but interns do receive at least one 10-week Workshop of your choice, two or three 1-day Intensives—and may take more classes as availability allows — plus the satisfaction of having an impact on a creatively flourishing New York institution. They are also eligible to perform additional paid work like checking students in for classes or setting up for events, on an as-needed basis, and that work is paid at $15 an hour.

If this sounds right for you, send a brief (but creative) cover letter and resume to Dana Miller at [email protected].

Be positive. Be friendly. Be energetic. Be creative. Be our intern!
