Barbara DeMarco-Barrett

Barbara DeMarco-Barrett  is the author of the writing guide Pen on Fire (Harcourt Mifflin Harcourt, re-released by Mars Street Press), which won the Outstanding Book Award from the American Society of Journalists and Authors.  She has published short fiction and essays in USA Noir: Best of the Akashic Noir SeriesCrossing Borders (Down and Out Books), Shotgun Honey “Recoil” (Down and Out Books), Serial Pulp, Inlandia, Belle Ombre, Abstract Expression Magazine, and Cutbank. Her articles have appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Orange Coast Magazine,Poets and WritersWriter’s Digest, and The Writer magazineShe hosts and produces the radio show, Writers on Writing. She is editor of Palm Springs Noir (forthcoming from Akashic). She has taught at the University of California, Irvine.
