Barbara DeMarco-Barrett

Barbara DeMarco-Barrett is the author of the writing guide Pen on Fire (Harcourt Mifflin Harcourt/Mars Street Press), which won the Outstanding Book Award from the American Society of Journalists and Authors, and the editor (and one of the writers) of the anthology Palm Springs Noir (Akashic). She has published short stories and essays in Rock and a Hard Place, Dark City Crime and Mystery Magazine, Literary Hatchet, Antarctica Journal, Crossing Borders, Shotgun Honey “Recoil,” Inlandia, and Cutbank, as well as the anthologies Orange County Noir and USA Noir. Her articles have appeared in the Authors Guild Magazine, the Los Angeles Times, Poets and Writers, Writer’s Digest, and The Writer. She hosts and produces the radio show/podcast Writers on Writing. She has taught at the University of California/Irvine and Saddleback College.
