What is your method for overcoming writer’s block?

Seek help and advice from friends. Don't be shy about that. Rely on them. They'll come to you one day, don't worry.

What are your favorite or most helpful writing prompts?

I got it from a J.D. Salinger book (I think it was Franny). It went something like, "Imagine the book you would most like to read. Then write it yourself." That's what I've been trying to do all my life.

What is the most valuable advice you received as a young writer?

I don't remember the writer's name—so long ago—but he said, "Don't do it for the money." This is very good advice. And the truth is, even if you do it for the money, chances are you won't.
